Outlook for Mac 2011

VR

Is there an Todoist for Mac Outlook: 2011? The only Outlook Todoist application I see is for Windows.

If there isn't a Outlook Mac app, can you export tasks to the Outlook calendar in the same way that you can e-mail tasks to Todoist?

Hello Valerie,

unfortunately, our Outlook plugin only works with Outlook for Windows, but thank you for your feedback, we appreciate it and will consider releasing a version for Outlook for Mac. You're welcome to add a request to our Votebox:
http://todoist.com/Vote/

As for task export - yes, you can synchronize your Todoist's task with the Outlook Calendar using the iCal feed. Please go to Todoist Preferences -> General Settings and click on the calendar icon at the bottom of this window. This should automatically add your Todoist iCal feed to Outlook or ask you which application you'd like to use it if you're using different calendar software.

Best regards,
David

Please make todoist for a Mac. As a mac user I feel completely slighted by all the plugins out there for organization. Boomerang, the Email Game, other project softwares... nobody is supporting mac users with the good products!!

if i can't integrate, no matter how awesome todoist is, i won't be able to justify keeping using it. without being in outlook, todoist is just a fancier pen and paper list... which is what i already use and then i have to do all my scheduling separately.

Please make the plug in for mac outlook!!!

It is far from a full-fledged plugin, but I wrote a simple AppleScript to
turn messages in Outlook 2011 into tasks in the Todoist Inbox. I find it
very useful.

The code is on github, if anyone has questions about how to get it working,
just let me know. github.com/joehooper/todoist-outlook-2011

Can you check that there are no line breaks in the todoist-token.txt file?
This will break the script, I am going to add some error checking next
time I get a chance to work on this.

Also, I have not tested this from a Mac user profile that does not have
administrator privileges. So if you are using it from a non-admin account,
that could be the problem.

This is the error I am currently receiving. Is it solely the API token that is in the .txt file or do we have to preface it with anything?

JH

Replied on Sep 12, 2014 - 15:19 UTC

It looks like a problem with your token file. It should contain only the token and be a plain text file. You may have saved it in rich text format.

Steps to create the todoist-token.txt file on a mac:
1 - Open TextEdit and create a new document
2 - Go to Todoist Settings - Account tab and copy your API token only
3 - Paste the API token into TextEdit
4 - In Text edit click Format -> Make Plain Text
5 - Save the file as todoist-token.txt in the Outlook Script Menu Items folder

Hope this helps!

It seems like Todoist has been ignoring the relatively straightforward request from its customer base: there was even an (almost) completed script for Outlook for Mac offered to the company 2 years ago, for them to refine and incorporate... basically a couple of days work!

So the issue is not priorities or time allocation, but simply that Todoist is ignoring its Mac customers requesting Mac Mail and/or Mac Outlook integration. Thanks!

Like many others I believe that this software is a great fit as my personal and work task manager. However, I’m instantly disappointed because I just signed up for premium believing that my team and I would have seemless email integration, only to find out there is no mac plugin!

On the support boards the todoist staff have said that "they'll consider looking into workarounds to develop such plugin as it should be possible”. When can we expect this plugin? If no plugin will be developed then I will mostly likely have to get a refund and find another option.

So disappointed. This is such a great app, really hate to leave!

I am a devoted premium user. The fact that the staff is only really responding to this lately by saying "We don't have this, here's how you get a refund" is a little concerning. Am I missing something? Is this on the development list? Any indication of a timeline? This is one feature that seems like a big deal for an app that wants to be truly cross-platform.

Hi Dan,

Really sorry about that. The thing is that Microsoft doesn't support plugins for Outlook on Mac, so we just couldn't port our plugin for Outlook for Windows. However, we're looking into alternative solutions (probably using Apple Scripts) to provide such integration for Outlook for Mac in the future.

As we don't have an ETA yet, we can't promise anything at this point yet. The refund was offered to the user just because he asked for that and, according to our 30-day policy, we provide refunds with no questions.

Again, sorry that I can't give more information yet. As we have any timeframe, we will definitely share.

I'll add my two cents here since I'm new to Todoist. I'm a transplant from Wunderlist, so Todoist is quite a step up. I am the sole Mac user amongst a sea of Windows users, all of which use the Outlook Add-On. I was not happy to discover this same add-on was not available on my Mac, but after researching the "send from email" feature, I am quite satisfied.

For each project, I am issued a unique Todoist email. I added the "@companyname.com" to the list of emails that could send to each project so my team could collaborate. For me, I created new contacts called "Todoist Project A," Todoist Project B," etc. When I need to forward an email into a project, I just type "Todoist" and a list of all the email addresses for my projects show up.

When I forward the emails, I take the time to add a couple features to the title. For example, if I type "Todist PC installations <date two weeks> @Email !!3" it does the following:

1. Creates an action titled "Todoist PC installations"
2. Sets a due date that is 2 weeks from today
3. Assigns the label "Email" to the task.
4. Assigns a priority of 3
